Artist Biography
Gerth Kuusk (born 1983, Tallinn) is an Estonian painter and designer. In 2015, he completed the classical painting continuing education programme at the Open Academy of the Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2019, he graduated cum laude from Tallinn University’s Haapsalu College, where he studied Handicraft Technology and Design.
His work centres on the individual, identity, and the relationship between people and the world around them. In his paintings, emotions and their inner contradictions take visual form. Realistic representation intertwines with playful absurdity and metaphysical elements, creating environments where the familiar and the impossible coexist.
In 2024, Kuusk presented Kummardus kaosele / Bow to Chaos at ArtDepoo Gallery, an exhibition created in collaboration with his two children. In 2026, he held a duo exhibition, Eedeni orjad / Slaves of Eden, with Henrik Hürden at Eesti Kunstioksjonid Gallery. Kuusk has been a member of the Art!šokk artist collective since 2025.
